A Rainy Start
Carrying our newly acquired duffle bags, Race Crew quickly made their way across campus to the Wilson Center before sunrise. The realization that we would be racing in a few hours was enough of a wakeup call to get out of bed, even if some of us had been up late preparing the caravan vehicles and Aevum for the race.
“I was just checking the temperature and saw rain,” one member said, prompting our strategists to re-evaluate the route for the day.
While the prospect of rain was not ideal, the gap in the stormfront gave the team hope of avoiding the poor weather altogether: the light rain that began to fall as Aevum drove away from Ann Arbor would soon pass.
Unfortunately, the rain persisted throughout the day, coming down in light sprinkles of water or heavy sheets of rain. In the afternoon, the team sought shelter at Littlefish Designs, who were kind enough to host the team until the weather cleared up.
Here, the call was made to end the day in Bay City where the team would resume the race in the morning. As the team set up camp, storm clouds loomed on the horizon but no rain fell. We were in the clear. Now, with a forecast of clearer skies, the team looks to push on further tomorrow.
