Mark your calendar for the Michigan Sun Run!

Good morning,

This month we’re making history.

In late July, Aevum will be driving across the country in the Michigan Sun Run. This endurance run will be a milestone achievement in the team’s 33-year history and a new challenge for the solar racing world. We hope you can come along with us for the ride.

As our Race Crew prepares for what’s to come, the workspace has been busy from sunrise to sunset: we’ve been working tirelessly to outfit our caravan vehicles and test Aevum at the Michigan Proving Grounds. All of our momentum has been building up to this moment.

We’re also proud to say that Aevum is officially a solar car. The solar array has been installed, and we’ve received the license plate in the mail! Go Blue!

Michigan Sun Run

Michigan Sun Run Official Route: July 23 Princeton, July 28 Kansas City, July 31 Albuquerque, and August 3 Los Angeles.

The Official Route has arrived!

On July 23rd, the Michigan Sun Run will begin in Princeton, NJ, and our Race Crew will drive Aevum 3,000 miles across the country. Along the way, we will be hosting four events with partner locations in New Jersey, Kansas, New Mexico, and California. So, mark your calendars and invite your friends and family out for the day to see the car. We’d love to see you there!

Also, if you stay long enough, you’ll be able to watch Aevum depart from the location and resume its journey on the Michigan Sun Run. Now wouldn’t that be cool to see?

More information about our route can be found on our website. For the states that don't have an official event planned, there will be other opportunities to see the car pass by on the road.

Individual pictures of the 2022 Race Crew are displayed in a 4x5 grid.

Meet our 2022 Race Crew!

With majors ranging from economics to aerospace engineering, 20 undergraduate students were selected from the team to build and drive Aevum in the Michigan Sun Run. Their vast skill sets allow our team to push the limits of what is possible in all aspects of solar racing. And we can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store for them.

In addition to being dedicated engineers, strategists, and business members, they are also life-long musicians, Formula 1 fans, and everything in between. Read their biographies on our website to learn more about the minds behind Aevum, the Michigan Sun Run, and our team!

Upcoming Events

Aevum rests on wooden blocks as its upper is propped up.

Caution: Solar vehicle ahead!

Driving Aevum on the streets is completely different from driving it on a race track. You have to constantly watch out for road obstructions, weather conditions, and the occasional rogue driver. That’s why the team is taking Aevum out for longer drives around the state to practice caravan procedures before our mock race and the Michigan Sun Run.

On the road, our outfitted vehicles aren’t hard to spot, especially our wonderful new trailer built and wrapped by Featherlite Trailers. So, if you’re around Ann Arbor, you might get lucky and see our caravan vehicles drive by this weekend!
