It’s time to start counting down

Today, we’re counting down to Unveil!
From wiring our new motors to installing the suspension system, the team has been busy getting Aevum ready for the public eye. In the meantime, we passed inspection! That means that Aevum will soon be a road-legal solar car.
Soon, Aevum will be fully assembled and ready to drive across the country. We’re working on finalizing event details of the Michigan Sun Run, so keep an eye out for updates on our social media and website.

Michigan Sun Run
Team bonding takes on a new meaning
While Race Crew tries to get a reasonable amount of sleep, everyone pitched in extra hours this week to make Aevum’s aerobody as smooth as possible. It was a late night of sanding and bonding in the workspace, but we were able to finish up just in time for the sunrise on Sunday morning.
Now, with our mechanical and electrical systems in place, Aevum is off to be wrapped and photographed around campus. In the next newsletter, you’ll be able to see Aevum in all its glory!
Putting the petal to the metal
Even after three years, Electrum is still road ready! Driving a solar car is a difficult task, but several Race Crew members were eager to get tested to become Aevum’s driver.
Not only do our drivers need to be able to make quick adjustments and communicate efficiently with the main caravan vehicles, they also need to be able to tolerate the heat for hours at a time! While Michigan weather isn’t the same as the Australian Outback, the ability to stay sane in the solar car is a must-have for any driver.
Our caravan drivers have also started driving in formation and practicing race procedures. As temperatures start to rise alongside the humidity, it's lucky that their vehicles will have AC.

During the event, Aevum will make its first public appearance alongside our 2022 Race Crew. We will also hear from speakers about the challenges the team has overcome during the Pandemic and the journey that lies ahead.
Aevum’s Unveil will occur on June 10th at 7:30pm ET, and the livestream will be hosted on our YouTube channel UMSolar.
