Maggie Hayes was the Operations Director for the 2005 U of M Solar Car Team, as well as a Mechanical Technician during the 2003 project.  Maggie coordinated race Logistics for Momentum, including transportation for the team and equipment to Australia.  She also organized the team’s public relations events, such as Momentum’s unveiling at the 2005 North American International Auto Show.

After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Maggie began an Operations rotational program at Navistar, a heavy-duty truck and engine manufacturer in Chicagoland.  She chose this role after her Solar Car experience piqued an interest in automotive planning and business functions.  Maggie is currently responsible for Navistar’s worldwide transportation procurement, working with many of the same logistics companies she first met during Solar Car.

Maggie stays involved with the Quantum project offering Operations and Logistics feedback wherever possible.  She also planned the Naperville finish line for the 2010 American Solar Challenge.  Maggie is currently pursuing an MBA at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.  In her free time, Maggie enjoys cheering for the Detroit TIgers, playing with her dog Shelby, and entering baking competitions.  She has the utmost confidence in the Quantum team and their potential to Win the World!
