Aerodynamics

The aero team is responsible for designing the exterior body of the car, as well as other components that affect internal aerodynamics. Design members of the aero division will learn how to use commercial CAD, meshing, and simulation software packages to design and optimize aerobodies. Other members of the aero division will lean more towards a deeper understanding of aerodynamic concepts to advance our Computational Fluid Dynamics, or CFD (simulation parameters used to analyze the aerodynamics of the car).

Members will gravitate towards design or CFD projects and the two groups will work closely together to ensure the team has the most efficient aerobody possible for the race. The aero team performs wind tunnel and track testing to gather real-life data on the car and validate our analyses.

As an aero member on Race Crew, you will work on the production of aero components, ensuring part and finish compliance.
