Business Division

The Business Division and the Project Manager collaborate to raise and manage all of the money needed for each project cycle and also facilitate UMSolar promotion locally as well as internationally at automotive, environmental, and educational PR events. The 2009 project, Infinium, will cost the team 2 million dollars. Students are responsible for raising this monetary and in-kind support through actively building strong partnerships with over three hundred sponsors. The Business Division organizes various PR events including a display at the North American International Autoshow as well as elaborate unveiling event for each new car. Additionally, a strong emphasis has been placed on continued involvement of all of the project’s stakeholders, ranging from sponsors to alumni, through the Solar Express, a regular UMSolar magazine that also falls under the Business Division’s duties. Essentially, the Business Division is responsible for the team’s finances and acts as a gateway to the team’s outside/media relations. While a majority of this division’s students are studying at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, the strength of the Business Division comes from the variety of disciplines represented in the division.
