After almost four months, 25,000+ miles of travel, and too many adventures to count, Quantum has returned to Ann Arbor. A delegation of team members gathered at the dropoff site on Thursday afternoon, and waited through winter winds and a slight drizzle for the truck to arrive. Check out the full story in pictures below.
Richard and Lonnie from U-M's Moving and Trucking department unload the crate with a telehandler forklift.
With the crate safely on the ground, Race Strategist AJ Trublowski (left) and Mechanical Engineer Alec Wagner remove the protective wrapping.
Micro-electrical engineer Jacob Zylema (right) watches as AJ opens the crate, and gets his first look at Quantum.
Only feet are visible as AJ and Interim Operations Director Aaron Frantz (right) carefully climb under Quantum to remove the straps holding the car down.
Once removed from the crate, Quantum was packed into our usual tow trailer and taken back to the Wilson Center. The crate will be refurbished by Ops before its next use in 2013, and Engineering and Strategy will begin preparing Quantum for ASC right away (or perhaps once they’ve finished their exams. It is, after all, finals week!)

Glad to see that the Crate is in good shape! Happy to see the car back intact, and I will definitely be in attendance for ASC 2012!
